EnviroGLAS brings the ancient craft of Terrazzo into the 21st century by combining lightweight epoxy resin with multi-colored glass chips from discarded bottles, mirrors and plate windows to achieve a surface harder than traditional marble Terrazzo.

EnviroGLAS now offers recycled glass Terrazzo – previously only hand crafted on site – at an affordable price range for modest sized projects. EnviroPLANK™ flooring tiles, ideal for residential and light commercial applications, can be installed by a professional tile applicator. EnviroSLAB™ handcrafted countertops come a standard size customizable to fit most applications.

Aesthetic?

EnviroPLANK and EnviroSLAB offer total color customization and a superlative finish. Glass chip options include clear, flint, mirror, blue, green, amber, tinted plate, and several variety mixtures. When light hits the surface, each translucent glass piece becomes a shimmering, tiny prism.

What about Maintenance?

EnviroSLAB counters and EnviroPLANK floors are highly durable, require no seal, and are heat, mildew and chemical resistant. “Of course the slab countertop adds resale value,” says Cathy Thiltgen of Austin’s CTI Design. “And homeowners love the minimal upkeep of resin,” she adds. EnviroPLANK floors require only a dry or wet mop and occasional buffing, where EnviroSLAB countertops require a wet sponge and an occasional stone polish application.

Green Value?

Yes… Environmentally friendly products are increasingly in demand as awareness and incentives grow. Recently presented a Texas Environmental Excellence Award by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, EnviroGLAS Terrazzo odorless hard surface systems require no harsh chemicals to maintain. EnviroSLAB and EnviroPLANK are VOC-free so residents can live in the house immediately after application. The EnviroGLAS mix is about 75% recycled glass and 25% binder by volume. EnviroGLAS Terrazzo can contribute to seven or more USGBC LEED® points.

Installation?

EnviroPLANK is installed similarly to tile applications:  Planks are laid down atop a thin-set mortar mix in a staggered fashion, and then a stain-free epoxy grout is applied.  EnviroSLAB countertops are polished to a high gloss or matte finish, ready for edge profiling, fabrication and installation.
